Klee's abstract “Castle and Sun” painting is one of my favorites! I love doing this project with all different ages...even three year olds can do this!
1. Give each child a light blue piece of paper.
2. Take them step by step (I go column by column) and show them how to draw long skinny buildings that are broken up into various squares, triangles or rectangles. (Draw in oil pastels)
3. Then let them glue precut construction paper squares throughout some of their columns. This adds a different element to the piece! (If you want to make it a 2 day project, let them cut the squares them-self)
4. Lastly let them paint the project with tempera cakes/ watercolor paints!
