Hello. I am Danielle.. I record our days at PONY+MAUDE the blog. I prefer simple, and find joy in the little things. Join me?
The holidays may be over, but any day is the perfect day to gift someone with beautiful skin. I recently received a jar of homemade skin moisturizer.. I am hooked! The difference in my skin (especially around my eyes) within a few days is visibly amazing!!
This little jar of happy is full of coconut oil and vitamin E. Vitamin E serves as an antioxidant. Meaning it protects skin cells from all the bad stuff just waiting to attack our skin in the environments we live in. When the vitamin E is added to lotions, cremes or other skin ointments such as coconut oil, it has an anti-aging effect. And even if you don't think you need that yet, you do!! Maybe the best part to this whole deal, is it's easy to make! So easy.
Find a jar or old cleaned cosmetic container to put your moisturizer in. Fill your microwaveable container with coconut oil. Add the liquid vitamin E from inside vitamin E capsules. I would use 3 to 5 capsules for a jar the size of the one pictured. Mix coconut oil and vitamin E together and refrigerate until solid once more. After this, you will not need to refrigerate again as the moisturizer will remain this consistency.
If this Winter has your skin feeling and looking dry, make this! If you are looking for a sweet personal gift for your friends for Valentine's, give this! Your skin will thank you! So will your wallet.
I am in love with using CO in place of lotion, but didn't think to add Vitamin E! Will do tonight, thanks!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! I really want to try this. Where do you buy coconut oil?
ReplyDeleteLook in the cosmetics department at your local stores. If you can't find it...ask the pharmacist there.
DeleteGreat minds....I melt my coconut oil and add almond oil in a recycled pump jar so it stays liquid as coconut oil on its own hardens. I have some other great homemade cosmetic recipes on the blog.

ReplyDeleteGreat information about homemade moisturizer.
ReplyDeleteWow, thank you for this! I’m definitely going to go out the next day to buy some aloe vera & hazelnut essential oil, if I can find it. My personal skin has been acting up however i don’t want to turn to lotions along with harsh chemicals. I hope good results with your recipe.
